Qwen3.8-4B implies the model is a 4B version from the Qwen3.8 series, is that correct?

No, actually it’s called Qwen3.5. It’s just a community version, developed using methods similar to those used by the official version.

Incorrect
The base model is QWEN 3.5 4B Base (as you can see at https://huggingface.co/empero-ai/Qwen3.8-4B-Distill), but was trained on the bigger model (QWEN 3.8 27B), so its basically the 3.5 with QWEN 3.8 as a teacher.
...as far as I can read all of this.
