The AI Era: What We Need to Change
Hello everyone. Today, I’d like to talk about a significant shift in the era we live in—the AI era. We use smartphones, search for information on the internet, and consume content created by AI. AI is no longer just a tool; it has become a presence that lives alongside us. However, much of the information we encounter is still designed solely with humans in mind.
Most of the documents we come across today exist in formats like PDFs, websites, images, or videos. I’m sure you’ve experienced this at some point: finding a research paper in a PDF where it’s hard to locate the exact information you need, or trying to extract key details from a blog post buried amidst ads and unnecessary design elements.
These formats, however, pose challenges not only for us but also for AI. Unlike humans, AI doesn’t flip through pages or click on links. It understands and processes information most efficiently when it’s presented as plain text—just words. Yet, the reality is different. The majority of information exists in forms that AI struggles to interpret directly. It’s as if we have a book filled with valuable stories, but it’s written in a language AI cannot read.
So, what should we do?
Moving forward, we need to rethink how we store information. Up until now, we’ve created webpages and PDFs designed for human readability. But from now on, we must also create documents that AI can easily process. For example, there’s a simple, text-based format called Markdown. It strips away complex designs and ads, focusing solely on the content itself. AI can understand documents in this format much faster and more accurately.
Additionally, we should automate the organization of new information so AI can learn from it directly. Imagine if the latest news or research papers uploaded every day were automatically converted into Markdown, stored, and made searchable for quick answers when needed. This would transform AI from a mere tool for retrieving information into a helper that learns and grows on its own.
So far, the internet has been a space where humans manually search, click, and organize information to make sense of it. But in the future, it will be an era where AI organizes and summarizes information for us. For that to happen, we need to structure information in a way that AI can read.
We stand at a crossroads of change.
We’re entering the AI era, yet much of the information we’ve created remains difficult for AI to comprehend.
Going forward, we need a new way of storing information that serves both humans and AI.
Using simple text formats like Markdown and automating the organization of information for AI to learn from are critical steps for this reason.
Until now, we’ve lived in an era where humans consumed information. But the future will be an era where AI learns and utilizes it.
We must prepare for that time.

안녕하십니까. 오늘 저는 우리가 살아가는 시대의 큰 변화, 바로 AI 시대에 대해 이야기하려 합니다. 우리는 스마트폰을 쓰고, 인터넷에서 정보를 검색하며, AI가 만들어준 콘텐츠를 보고 듣습니다. 이제 AI는 단순한 도구가 아니라, 우리와 함께 살아가는 존재가 되었습니다. 하지만 여전히 많은 정보가 사람을 위한 방식으로만 만들어지고 있습니다.
오늘날 우리가 접하는 대부분의 문서들은 PDF, 웹사이트, 이미지, 동영상 같은 형태로 존재합니다. 여러분도 한 번쯤 경험해보셨을 겁니다. 논문을 찾았는데 PDF 파일이라서 원하는 내용을 바로 찾기가 어렵거나, 블로그에서 정보를 찾으려면 광고와 불필요한 디자인 속에서 중요한 문장을 겨우 읽어야 했던 순간들 말입니다.
그런데 이런 형식의 정보는 AI에게도 어렵습니다. AI는 사람이 하는 것처럼 문서를 넘기거나 클릭을 하지 않습니다. AI는 단순한 텍스트, 즉 글자로 된 정보를 가장 쉽게 읽고 이해합니다. 하지만 현실은 다릅니다. 대부분의 정보가 AI가 바로 이해할 수 없는 형태로 존재하고 있습니다. 마치 중요한 이야기가 잔뜩 들어 있는 책이 있는데, 그 책이 AI가 읽을 수 없는 언어로만 쓰여 있는 것과 같습니다.
그렇다면 우리는 무엇을 해야 할까요?
앞으로는 정보를 저장하는 방식이 바뀌어야 합니다. 지금까지는 사람이 쉽게 읽을 수 있도록 디자인된 웹페이지나 PDF를 만들었다면, 이제는 AI도 쉽게 읽을 수 있도록 문서를 만들어야 합니다. 예를 들면, Markdown(마크다운)이라는 단순한 텍스트 기반 형식이 있습니다. 이 형식은 복잡한 디자인이나 광고 없이, 오로지 내용만 담고 있습니다. AI는 이런 형식의 문서를 훨씬 더 빠르고 정확하게 이해할 수 있습니다.
또한, 우리는 새로운 정보를 AI가 직접 배울 수 있도록 자동으로 정리해 주어야 합니다. 예를 들어, 매일 올라오는 최신 뉴스나 연구 자료를 AI가 자동으로 Markdown 형식으로 변환해서 저장하고, 필요할 때 빠르게 검색해서 답을 줄 수 있어야 합니다. 이렇게 하면 AI는 단순히 정보를 찾아주는 도구가 아니라, 스스로 학습하고 성장하는 도우미가 될 수 있습니다.
지금까지 인터넷에 있는 정보는 사람이 직접 검색하고, 클릭하고, 정리해서 이해해야 했습니다. 하지만 앞으로는 AI가 정보를 정리해주고, 요약해서 제공하는 시대가 될 것입니다. 그러기 위해서는 우리가 AI가 읽을 수 있는 방식으로 정보를 정리해야 합니다.
이제 우리는 변화의 기로에 서 있습니다.
우리는 AI 시대를 맞이하고 있지만, 여전히 우리가 만든 정보의 대부분은 AI가 이해하기 어렵습니다.
앞으로는 사람과 AI가 함께 사용할 수 있는 새로운 정보 저장 방식이 필요합니다.
Markdown 같은 단순한 텍스트 포맷을 활용하고, AI가 스스로 학습할 수 있도록 정보를 자동으로 정리하는 것이 중요한 이유입니다.
지금까지는 사람이 정보를 소비하는 시대였다면, 앞으로는 AI가 정보를 배우고 활용하는 시대가 될 것입니다.
우리는 그 시대를 준비해야 합니다.
